How is the summer nearly over? Where did it go? What did we do?! I know there was a lot of fun and sun in there, but these past couple of months have absolutely whizzed by. The end of summer also means Lincoln will be starting full-day Kindergarten soon and I can practically feel my heart breaking thinking about him being gone for the majority of his waking hours, five days a week. UGH. I’m being a baby and he’s ready to go, but like…this is absolutely awful, right?

On a happier note, we’ve still got the Iowa State Fair and all its food-on-a-stick-glory to look forward to before the season of early school mornings, extra-curricular activities, homework and everything in between begins. That’s why I thought it’d be the perfect time to share with you 30 of my favorite one pan recipes. A busy family’s best friend during this hectic time of year!

I’ve compiled this list of one pan recipes to make your life EASY. All of these dishes are made in just one pan, pot, or skillet which means the burners on your stove won’t all be blazing while you’re running around trying get homework started or someone(s) off to swimming, soccer, or scouts. There are a few recipes I recommend serving over a bed of rice, for example, so you’ll need a second pot for that, but 98% are made in just one pan.

I prefer to use an enameled Dutch oven when making slow-cooked soups and stews, but when I want to be able to throw the pot in the dishwasher at the end of the evening, I go with my 10 quart stock pot with lid. It’s huge and I use it it to cook everything from soup, to rice dishes, and chili.
