Red is storms, high winds, lightning strikes in fast succession in a small area. Also volunteer amateur radio weather spotters calling into a Skywarn net of possible rotation spotted in the clouds. Even large hailstones and snow fall/rain rated have been reported after being spotted also by radar.

Red slopes: hard

The next colour level on the list is the red slopes. These are for skiers who are at least comfortable with descending on slopes of a certain gradient. It is usually a wide ski slope with frequent “walls” and some knickpoints. It may also contain mogul fields and icy areas.

For those of you wondering what this means, it is essentially a colour-coded indication of how good (or bad) traffic is. Green = no traffic delays on your route. Orange = middle-level traffic on your route. Red = heavy traffic delays causing speed of traffic to really slow down.
